The NMMU Family Business Unit has a number of registered, ready to offer short learning programmes that have been developed specifically for family business owners and the professionals who consult with family business owners.
NQF Level: 5 Duration: 1 Day Credit Value: 3 Purpose: Designed to provide individuals with the necessary information and knowledge to start a family business, as well as creating awareness of the complex environment that a family business presents to all members involved. |
NQF Level: 5 Duration: 1 Day Credit Value: 3 Purpose: The purpose of this short learning programme is to assist family business teams in developing the teamwork and collaboration skills that are vital to the success of their "partnership" and their business. |
NQF Level: 5 Duration: 4 Days Credit Value: 8 Purpose: Allows students to connect personal concerns to business issues, to see how the personal dimension affects the conduct of business, and to understand how to move between a personal and business perspective. It is meant for students who have been, or who may become part of a family business, or who are already consultants or professionals, who will be/are working with clients who are operating family businesses. Please note: The next offering of this SLP is scheduled for 8, 9 and 10 November 2011. |
NQF Level: 5 Duration: 1 Day Credit Value: 3 Purpose: This short learning programme aims to create an enhanced understanding of the nature and pitfalls of succession. With this understanding, family business stakeholders may be better equipped to identify or formulate appropriate strategies for approaching this complex issue as well as enhancing the family business's prospects of survival, continuity and success. |
These short learning programmes are presented at the NMMU Business School's Bird Street Campus in Central, Port Elizabeth however arrangements can be made to present the course outside of Port Elizabeth if there is a large enough demand.
