Why NMMU Business School

Rankings and Unique Propositions

The NMMU Business School ranks top among South Africa’s business schools, according to the annual Financial Mail survey as well as Eduniversal International Ranking Agency, and has received accolades from The New York Times, The Boston Globe and The Washington Post for leadership training, development and education on the African content.

 

We are one of only two South African accredited business schools who have a Doctoral programme (DBA) and Masters (MBA) who are both internationally accredited. The NMMU Business School was elected to the European Doctoral Programmes Association in Management and Business Administration (EDAMBA), and has recently been accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA).

 

Accreditation

NMMU Business School is accredited by the following external industry bodies to ensure that our educational curriculum aligns and complies with international quality standards:

Association of MBAs (AMBA);

The Council of Higher Education (CHE); and

Association of African Business Schools (AABS).

 

NMMU Business School was also elected to the European Doctoral Programmes Association in Management and Business Administration (EDAMBA). NMMU is only the second Business School in Africa to be admitted to EDAMBA.

 

NMMU are members of the South African Business Schools Association (SABSA).

 

The School is also a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact’s Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME).

 

NMMU Business School is the first educational institution in South Africa to receive an official Green Star design rating for a public and education building from the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA).

 

A Unique Learning Pathway

The NMMU Business School recognises the need for extensive leadership development at a number of levels within the organisation (from first-line team leaders and supervisors to middle and senior management) apart from building capacity at executive management level.

 

Our programmes offer working individuals a unique learning pathway through which they are able to access university studies from an NQF level 4 through to a formal university qualification of NQF 6 and above.

 

Studying on a part-time basis while continuing to work full-time is ideal for those who might not have had the opportunity to obtain a formal qualification.

NMMU Business School’s MBA ranks among the top 200 in the world (Eduniversal 2016/17 Global Ranking of Executive MBA degrees).

 

Eduniversal ranked ten African Executive MBA programmes among the top 200 in the world. Of those, NMMU were among only seven Executive MBA programmes to receive a three-star rating, the highest possible grade (Eduniversal 2016/2017 Global Ranking of Executive MBA degrees).

 

First ‘green’ business school in South Africa

NMMU Business School is the first in South Africa to receive an official ‘green’ design rating accreditation for a public and education building from the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA).

Flexibility

We have a programme designed to fit you, whether it’s Full Time, Part Time or Block Release. In fact, unlike many other business schools, our Block Release students receive the same amount of contact hours as our part-time students. This happens through study visits, day visits and live video conferencing.

 

Mobility

If you move, or your company transfers you to another part of the country, we will move with you. With a minimum of fuss and bureaucracy, we will offer you the opportunity to join one of our other centres and start classes there.
