Biography:

Dr Trollip is a Strategic Research Manager at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) where he develops and implements the research and innovation strategy for his business unit. He also co-ordinates the preparation of his unit’s strategy and operational plan, and tracks progress with achieving business objectives and goals. He also plays various roles at CSIR level, including being the champion of the organisation’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Impact Area which spans different business units.

Dr Trollip was trained at Cambridge University in Technology Roadmapping and is a certified Participlan facilitator. He has played a leading role in numerous national projects and initiatives concerned with technology and innovation. These include being part of the Steering Committee for a Danish funded Cleaner Textile Production project, serving on the team that established the South African Advanced Composites Centre of Competence, and serving on the project working team that developed a South African Additive Manufacturing Technology Roadmap in 2015.

He is currently the lead facilitator for the development of four other Advanced Manufacturing Technology Roadmaps which are nearing completion.
